For me, as a Romanian, “troc” has a lot of meaning. In old Romanian “troc” is some sort of a barter, an exchange of products, but in this area “troc” is what English speakers call “thrift”, more to the point a “troc” is a “thrift store”, a place where you can buy second-hand or used products or clothing.
Ever since, I first arrived to Luxembourg, I was fascinated with this troc stores, but because of my dust allergy I can’s spend as much as I would like inside. Still, I manage to go about 10 to 15 minutes without a red, scratchy face, enough to see all there is to see in the troc store.
Our “local troc store” is in Massancy, in Belgium, about 5 minutes by car from Arlon. We went there on Sunday, for no particular reason, but I left with a lovely turtle and some pictures for you, of things I would buy if I ever decide to spend my life in this area.
